You may have heard about Redtail Academy, a new start-up middle school for boys (or those who identify as boys). Our school just began on August 17th! We are committed to keeping our school financially accessible, so we are relying heavily on community members to volunteer for our school. 

Firstly, we would love to find volunteers to help in our classroom and be there as the second adult in the classroom. As a volunteer, you would not be required to teach anything and would be welcome to bring a book, computer, or other quiet activity to do during your time at school. We mostly need assistance with simple tasks and would like to have the volunteer also be a support person in case of an emergency. 

A few other volunteer roles we are hoping to fill:

Play Coach- we are looking for someone to supervise play time after lunch (and during lunch as well?). This would occur mostly outdoors and feature a mix of structured and free play. You would also help support students when navigating disagreements or assist with simple injuries. We are looking for help from 11:30/12:00 pm until 1:00 pm one or more days a week. 

Sidekick- we are looking for someone to accompany the Lead Teacher and students on adventures around the community--no planning is needed and it will be mostly on Fridays in the late morning/early afternoon. 

Fine Arts Coach - we are looking for someone who shares a passion for dance, music, visual arts, or theater. This person would work with the Lead Teacher to develop plans. 

Maestro/Maestra- we are looking for someone to provide Spanish language learning a few times a week (flexible schedule). You would work with the Lead Teacher to develop plans. 

Our most urgent need is for reliable volunteers to be the second adult in the classroom, but we know our strength and success depend on building a strong community of support.
