The “From the Archives” article in the  August 1 edition of the enUUs described the construction of our totem pole. UUCUC member and volunteer historian for the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, Amy Robison, provides this update.

The totem pole, which stood in Lake of the Woods Park, was moved to the nearby Girl Scouts Green Meadows Camp Kiwanis around 1990 and was installed in front of Evergreen Lodge, which is the dining hall.

Around 2013, the totem pole was relocated a short distance to make room for the new Pavilion in in front of Evergreen Lodge.  

A significant portion of the pole has broken off and searches of the camp property in 2021 (in preparation for the 80th Anniversary of the camp) did not turn up any missing portions.
