Food Pantry Update!

Spring has almost sprung! At least until it decides to snow again... We’ve had some great donations come in for the food pantry this month—thanks to everyone who contributed! We continue to be able to replenish the pantry at least once every day thanks to donations and volunteers.
We are looking at some exciting additions to our offerings in the spring—more on that as things solidify! Also, we are working on an upgraded pantry. Our current structure has served us extremely well, especially considering it was originally meant to be temporary, but like most of us, it is tired and some pieces fall off from time to time. Again, more news as it solidifies.
Ongoing needs include:
- Proteins—particularly canned meats like tuna and chicken. Beans are also great, but the tuna and chicken seem to be in high demand!
- Hearty soups
- Peanut butter—smaller jars and/or individual-sized servings are great!
- Snack bars (granola bars, nut bars, etc.)
- Shelf-stable or dry milk
- Canned fruits and vegetables (except corn—we have a lot of corn)
- Hygiene items (soaps, shampoos, etc.—sample sizes are great for this).
If you can find canned items with pull-tabs, that’s ideal. All donations are shared between the pantry at church and the pantry maintained in Champaign by AJ Herzog.
I will be assembling some online and physical wish lists for reference—life has been getting in the way, but these will be available soon!
